She also authors compliance articles for the monthly Compliance Update newsletter. Teresa has over 22 years of banking experience working for community banks. Her prior experience includes working as a bank teller, staff accountant, secondary market specialist, loan operations supervisor including loan servicing, loan processing and loan closing, mortgage and consumer manager, and lending compliance officer.
She earned a B.S. in Accounting from Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie.
Karen Clower is a Consultant and and the Director of Compliance at Young & Associates, Inc. Her primary responsibilities include new client inquires and engagement letters, scheduling of compliance contracts, answering compliance hotline calls, and compliance field work.
Her prior banking experience includes 19 years working for a large community bank where she managed the mortgage lending department, including processing, underwriting, and the mortgage loan officers. She has also worked as a mortgage loan officer and credit analyst/account officer for commercial lending. Karen holds a B.A. in Business Management from Hiram College, and associate degrees in Banking and Finance and Business Management from Kent State University and is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager.
Dale Neiss is a consultant with Young & Associates. With more than 30 years of banking experience in Denver, Colo., Dale has developed and implemented compliance management systems, loan review and community reinvestment act (CRA) programs, and enterprise risk management (ERM) framework for multiple banks. He has held the titles of Compliance and Loan Review Manager, BSA and CRA Officer, and Enterprise Risk Management Director.
Prior to his Denver banking experience, Dale began his banking career with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in Indianapolis, Ind., as an associate national bank examiner. At Young & Associates., he provides consulting and training, as well as writes articles and compliance manuals.
He holds the designation of Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) by the Institute of Certified Bankers in Washington, D.C. Dale earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Management from Kent State University.
Mary Green is a Consultant with Young & Associates, Inc. Her primary focus at the company is BSA and compliance reviews for client banks.
Mary has more than 35 years in community banking and has worked in various areas of the industry including retail, lending, BSA and compliance. Her experience includes bookkeeping, customer service, branch manager, business development officer, mortgage officer, and AVP of banking, as well as BSA and Compliance Officer. Most recently, Mary served for eight years as an executive officer and the Director of Compliance for a multi-bank holding company in the Midwest. She enjoys working closely with fellow bankers to assist them in enhancing their processes and providing tools to strengthen their programs.
Mary has earned the industry designation of Certified AML and Fraud Professional (CAFP).
Patrick Fink is a Consultant in Young & Associates’ compliance division, specializing in lending and deposits.
He performs compliance reviews for clients in Ohio and Indiana, provides advertising reviews, and contributes to the corporate compliance newsletter and educational programs for bankers. Pat is an industry veteran with 29 years of experience. He worked as a compliance officer for two community banks for 13 years, 10 of which were with a billion-dollar bank.
Pat earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from West Virginia University.
Bill Elliott has more than 40 years of banking experience. As a senior consultant and Director of Compliance Education at Young & Associates, Bill works on a variety of compliance-related issues, including leading compliance seminars, conducting compliance reviews for all areas of compliance, conducting in-house training, and writing compliance articles and training materials.
During his career, Bill spent 15 years as a compliance officer and CRA officer in a large community bank, and also worked for a large regional bank. He has been a lender for consumer, commercial, and mortgage loans, and has managed a variety of bank departments, including loan review, consumer/commercial loan processing, mortgage loan processing, loan administration, credit administration, collections, and commercial loan workout.
Diane Krause is a seasoned Compliance Consultant at Young & Associates, bringing decades of expertise to support community financial institutions in navigating the complexities of regulatory compliance.
Diane’s banking journey began in high school as a drive-up teller at a local community bank, sparking a lifelong passion for community banking. Her impressive career includes serving as a Compliance Examiner with the FDIC, where she gained invaluable insights into regulatory expectations and best practices. Diane also held leadership roles at two community banks—one in New Jersey and another in Colorado—managing diverse responsibilities across compliance, operations, and lending.

Peggy Hoskins joins Young & Associates as a Compliance Consultant, bringing over 38 years of expertise in the community banking sector. Specializing in Deposit and Lending Compliance, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and Fair Lending, Peggy has a proven track record of excellence in regulatory compliance and operational leadership.
Throughout her distinguished career, Peggy has held key leadership roles, including serving as Vice President of Bank Secrecy Compliance. In this capacity, she was instrumental in developing and overseeing compliance management systems that earned high praise from regulatory examiners. Her strong grasp of regulatory frameworks and consistent record of achievement have enabled her to successfully manage internal audits, regulatory examinations, and lead robust compliance training programs.
Peggy’s extensive experience includes overseeing credit administration, crafting credit and deposit-related policies, and serving as a Fair Lending and Community Reinvestment Officer. Having worked for both OCC and FDIC-regulated banks, she possesses a deep and nuanced understanding of compliance review processes across various regulatory bodies.
In addition to her compliance expertise, Peggy has played a critical role in supervisory oversight, managing diverse teams, and driving operational excellence in community lending, loan underwriting, and portfolio management. Veronica Madsen is a seasoned Compliance Consultant and a key member of the Compliance Education team at Young & Associates. With a robust background as a legal professional and extensive experience in the banking industry, Veronica has dedicated decades to assisting financial institutions with regulatory compliance issues and developing effective compliance management systems.
Veronica’s distinguished career in compliance began at the Michigan Credit Union League trade association, where she worked in the Regulatory Compliance Department. She further honed her skills as a Regulatory Attorney for credit unions and later as the Chief Compliance Officer at a fintech company and a small bank.
Leveraging her extensive expertise, Veronica founded ESTEE Compliance, a consulting company dedicated to providing comprehensive compliance services to credit unions. At ESTEE, she audited credit unions, trained staff on regulatory compliance matters, and educated state and federal examiners on conducting regulatory compliance examinations.
Veronica also worked at a Fintech where she created and managed a Compliance Management System and managed the Bank Secrecy Act training program at a very large bank.
Veronica holds a Bachelor of Science in English and Communication from Central Michigan University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Her extensive knowledge, coupled with her hands-on experience, makes her a valuable asset to Young & Associates, where she continues to provide expert guidance and education in regulatory compliance.
In his role as BSA Manager at Young & Associates, Edward Pugh leads a dedicated team of BSA-specialized consultants, driving excellence in Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance across client institutions. Since joining Young & Associates in January 2021 as a compliance consultant, Edward has continuously elevated the firm’s capabilities in regulatory compliance.
Over his tenure, Edward has conducted numerous BSA and BSA/AML model validation reviews, lending and deposit reviews, and ACH audits, demonstrating his deep expertise and commitment to regulatory excellence. His participation in Audit Firm Training for Model Validation in 2022 and 2023, in collaboration with a renowned BSA software company, has significantly enhanced the firm’s ability to assist clients with BSA/AML model validation reviews.
Edward brings over 20 years of industry experience to his role, with five years overseeing a team of bank examiners. His diverse background includes roles in retail lending and deposit products, corporate trust, compliance, and regulatory supervision. Edward holds esteemed designations such as CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist), CAMS-Audit, AAP (Accredited ACH Professional) from NACHA, and CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner).
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, providing him with a strong foundation for understanding the complexities of the financial industry. Justin Schray serves as a Credit Analyst at Y&A Credit Services, bringing with him a wealth of expertise in commercial credit analysis and credit administration gained through years of dedicated service within Young & Associates.
Justin’s association with Y&A began in the summer of 2021, where he seamlessly integrated into the organization as an Associate Consultant and Lending Administrator in the Lending and Loan Review Department. Over the course of two years, Justin’s commitment and exceptional performance have propelled him to his current position.
A graduate of Cleary University with a BBA specializing in accounting and finance, Justin’s educational background lays a solid foundation for his role as a commercial Credit Analyst. His responsibilities include the analysis of credit data and financial statements to evaluate the degree of risk associated with extending credit. Additionally, Justin oversees the review of client accounts and reporting, playing a key role in the management of the loan pipeline.
Ollie Sutherin serves as the CFO of Young & Associates.
Previously serving as Principal of Y&A Credit Services, Ollie held key responsibilities in steering the development, growth, implementation, and strategic planning initiatives for the company.
Commencing his banking journey in 2016, Ollie concentrated primarily on the commercial banking sphere. His tenure with Young & Associates commenced with a focus on the company’s loan review process, delving into the fundamentals of lending, credit, and actively engaging in fieldwork for loan reviews. Transitioning to a credit analyst role in a West Virginia regional bank further enriched his expertise.
Rejoining Young & Associates in 2018, Ollie contributed significantly to the loan review department, conducting meticulous third-party and due diligence reviews for small and regional banks. His responsibilities expanded as he assumed a managerial role in lending administration, revolutionizing the department’s information distribution and documentation through streamlined processes and the successful implementation of a new software platform. Under his leadership as the Quality Control Department Manager, the department experienced two record-breaking revenue years, nearly doubling its productivity.
Ollie holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from West Virginia University in Morgantown and completed an MBA with a concentration in Management from Marshall University.
