Strategic planning process
Pre-Planning – Where are you now? |
At Young & Associates, we tailor each strategic planning process to your bank’s specific needs. Before the planning session, we get to know your institution by meeting with your management team, discussing the most pressing issues facing your organization and reviewing the results and progress of your prior strategic plan.
We also send a confidential questionnaire to directors and senior officers to identify any key issues that should be addressed. Based on your bank’s direction and the questionnaire results, we work with you to build an agenda tailored to your institution.

Planning Session – Where do you want to be? |
During the strategic planning session, we review current banking industry trends, financials, and discuss the pre-planning findings so everyone starts from the same point. From there, we focus on the core question: Where do you want to be?
To assist in what the future may look like, our financial modeling tools help illustrate the impact of different “what if” scenarios, including stressed budgets and alternative strategies, on the bottom line, capital, shareholder value and liquidity. We then include those insights with you to discuss what it looks like to achieve your vision. Our team facilitates the discussion and uses real-world experience to help facilitate a plan that reflects your vision. The goal is to define where you want your organization to be in one, three to five or 10 years. Strategy requires choices about who you want to serve and how you plan to serve them. It also requires clarity about who you will not serve so you can stay focused on your core customers.

Plan Execution – How will you get there? |
The end result should be a realistic agreed-upon direction for your bank and the strategies needed to achieve it. A strategic plan is only effective if it also defines how the bank will execute it.
That includes assigning responsibility for each goal, setting timelines for completion, and establishing a schedule for periodic progress updates.
